The Brighton Fringe 2026 has officially wrapped up for the year. Running from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 31, 2026, the massive open-access arts festival brought a huge wave of comedy, theatre, cabaret, and dance to Brighton and Hove. While the festival has concluded and the 2026 awards were handed out on June 3, looking back at how the city's venues transformed during May highlights the sheer scale of this annual event, which drew around 400,000 in-person attendees.

During the month-long run, several key local spots became major hubs for performances. Laughing Horse celebrated its 19th year at the festival, hosting over 150 shows across venues like The Caroline of Brunswick, The Walrus, Temple, and the a&o Hostel Brighton Beach. The Caroline of Brunswick utilized its 80-seater Upper Lounge for comedy and cabaret, while The Walrus on Ship Street offered performances across its multi-story space, including its basement music venue and two-storey roof terrace. Meanwhile, The Secret Comedy Club at Artista in Brighton Square kept up its busy schedule as a dedicated grassroots comedy venue, enforcing its strict anti-heckling policy during the festival's run.
Beyond the ticketed shows, which ranged from free entry to £38, the festival integrated several community-focused initiatives. The free Fringe City event series brought outdoor performances to New Road, Pavilion Gardens, and Jubilee Street every weekend. Additionally, the Fringe Academy partnered with Brighton University and Arts Council England to deliver over fifty free skills-based workshops. For those planning ahead, the official organizers have already confirmed that the festival will return, with dates for the 2027 edition currently being prepared.
