If you're not familiar with the record, it's a wide-ranging one. He describes it as a manifesto of a new musical culture, and the sound reflects that: dance-punk, emo, prog rock and hardcore sitting alongside pop, hip-hop and Latin dance. It's a lot of ground to cover in one set, and the gig is the place to hear how those different threads pull together live.
Behind the name is Jhariah Clare (he/they), a Brooklyn musician and polymath. Trust Ceremony is his second full-length release, and it's the core of what he's bringing to Brighton. The set will be built around that material, so it's a good chance to catch the record in its intended form.
Patterns is at 10 Marine Parade, BN2 1TL. The night runs from 19:00 to 22:00, and tickets are £20.50. It's a 14+ event, with under-16s needing to be accompanied by an adult, and anyone over 18 will need to show photo ID at the door.
