Annual Phoenix Public Library fair with over 100 local authors across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir and children's literature.
The Local Author Fair returns to the Burton Barr Central Library on Saturday, November 7, from 11 AM to 2 PM. It's an annual Phoenix Public Library event, held on the first Saturday of November to align with the Local First Arizona Fall Festival, which gives the library a booth each year. This time, the fair takes over the general area on the second floor of the library.
More than 100 local authors will be there, covering fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, and children's literature. The fair is the culmination of the library's Call for Local Authors, an initiative that highlights Arizona's writing community by giving selected authors a chance to showcase their work and meet readers. The authors range from debut writers to seasoned storytellers, and those selected are added to the library's Approved Partner & Presenter List, where they may be considered for other programs throughout the year.
If you're going, you can buy signed copies directly from the authors. Some of the submitted books may also be used as raffle prizes for the Phoenix Public Library Foundation's annual fundraiser, Dinner in the Stacks, or sold and gifted through the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library. It's a good way to see what's being written in the city and pick up a few things you wouldn't normally find on a bookstore shelf.
