An immersive audio experience exploring the link between sea, migration and motherhood, led by testimonies of Polish migrant mothers.
Moimi Oczami / Through My Eyes comes to Devil's Point on Saturday 4 July, an immersive audio experience that looks at the links between the sea, migration and motherhood. It's built around the testimonies and memories of twelve first-generation Polish migrant mothers, and it's produced by Plymouth Culture for Sea for Yourself, in collaboration with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.

The experience was created by artists Agnieszka Blonska and Tori Cannell, co-created with mothers from Plymouth. It weaves together personal testimony, poetry and the rhythms of the ocean, and asks what it means to take root when you're being pulled by the tide. On the day, you'll gather in a designated outdoor viewing area and listen through wireless headphones to those personal accounts—stories of belonging, language, motherhood, memory, loss and the idea of home, all in relation to the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. The whole thing lasts about 40 minutes.
It's an outdoor experience, so it's worth bringing a blanket or a cushion to sit on, though a small number of chairs will be available. It's for adults only—18+—because of the themes of loss, migration and displacement, so it's not one to bring the kids along to. The headphones are provided on the day, so you don't need to bring your own.
Entry is free, but you'll need to book a time slot in advance, and capacity is limited. There are two slots on the day, at 11:30 and 13:30. The project was commissioned and produced by Plymouth Culture for Sea for Yourself, in collaboration with Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund's Horizons programme and Arts Council England's Place Partnership. You can book your spot via Eventbrite.
