Annual summer art exhibition showcasing work from local artists in the beautiful setting of Portsmouth Cathedral.
The Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society are back with their annual summer exhibition at Portsmouth Cathedral, running from 22 to 30 August. It's their main event of the year, with work from local artists displayed across the nave. The society has been around since 1909, and this exhibition is the big one on their calendar.

If you're around on the 21st, there's a private preview that evening from 7 to 9 pm, so you can see the work before the general opening on the 22nd. From there, the exhibition stays open through to the 30th, giving you plenty of time to drop in when it suits. The work is from local artists, and while entry is free, the pieces on display are for sale.
It's not just a one-off, either. The society keeps things going throughout the year with weekly Art Group sessions every Thursday at Beckett Hall, just across from the cathedral, and monthly demonstrations from established artists. So if you see something you like and fancy picking up a brush yourself, there's a community to join.
Practical details: Portsmouth Cathedral, High Street, Old Portsmouth, PO1 2HA. Open 22 to 30 August, free entry, with artwork for sale.
