At the centre of the evening are two pieces both titled Northern Lights, one by Ēriks Ešenvalds and the other by Ola Gjeilo, each capturing the mystery of the aurora borealis. Alongside them, the choir will perform Dusk Songs by Kerry Andrew, a contemporary reimagining of the ancient Compline service written specifically for The Ebor Singers back in 2006. The choir's recording of that piece earned praise from Classic FM, Choir & Organ, and Church Music Quarterly, so it's a good one to hear live.
The whole thing runs from 19:30 to 21:30, with an interval in the middle. Tickets are between £12 and £20, with concessions available through the box office, and they're sold at the York Minster Box Office.
