Vintage Jazz with Ruby Adams

Ruby Adams is taking over Pavilion Dance South West on Saturday 15 August for a night of vintage jazz. It's part of the Dancing Terraces series, a run of outdoor dance sessions that Pavilion Dance South West is hosting throughout August.

The night is built around the music, with Ruby Adams leading the way. It's not just a performance to watch from the side, though — the whole thing is a dance session, so you're meant to be on your feet. The format is a mix of music, dance sessions, live performances, and DJ sets, all running together rather than as separate acts. It's an open-air affair, held on the Garden Terrace at Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth, Dorset, BH1 2BU.

If you're not a regular dancer, there's no need to worry. There's no booking required and no previous experience needed — the only thing they ask is that you bring your energy and follow the moves. It's set up for all ages, described as fun for the whole family, so it works as well for a family outing as it does for anyone who just likes to dance.

Ruby's night is one of several. Dancing Terraces runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 to 29 August, with each evening focusing on a different style — Hip Hop, House, Latin, African, and Ceilidh are among the others in the line-up. Each session runs from 19:00 to 21:00, and they're all free. Ruby Adams takes the lead on Saturday 15 August, 19:00 to 21:00, at the Garden Terrace.
