A music event celebrating local artists in Portsmouth, featuring indie, folk, jazz and rock acts, with proceeds donated to Music Fusion.
Homegrown Sounds comes to the Wedgewood Rooms on Saturday 27 June, a showcase of local Portsmouth bands. It's part of the 'Portsmouth100' celebrations and falls within 'Everywhere At Once', a National Lottery-funded project supported by the Music Venue Trust that runs from 26 to 28 June, bringing together hundreds of venues across the UK for a weekend of live music. The organisers describe it as a different kind of festival: closer to the music, where the local matters and where everyone belongs.

The line-up runs through a fair bit of ground. The Sans bring groovy indie with a reggae twist, and Eloise Carter does indie folk and rock, which she describes as intense and emotional. Rosie Hollins works in jazz, soul and blues, while Fake Empire plays atmospheric indie rock. Mimi Rae adds indie pop to the mix, and Fast Trains is an alternative band led by Tom Wells, with XTC, Radiohead and Elbow listed as influences.
It's a long afternoon of music, with the show starting at 13:30. Entry is £5, and every penny from the tickets goes to Music Fusion. The Wedgewood Rooms is at 147b Albert Road, Southsea, PO4 0JW.
