Outdoor music festival featuring nine homegrown acts and DJs on a stage in Guildhall Square, presented by The Guildhall Trust.
Pompey Summer Sounds takes over Guildhall Square on Sunday 19 July, with nine homegrown acts and a rotation of DJs on a big stage set up right in front of the Guildhall. It's an all-day outdoor music festival, and the lineup is entirely local, so it's a good chance to catch a fair few Portsmouth bands in one go. The whole thing is presented by The Guildhall Trust, programmed by Word of Mouth and LMSUK.

Supersonics, an Oasis tribute, headline the day, with the rest of the bill filling out around them. There's Harvey Jay Dodgson, The Cold Heart Revue fronted by David Robinson, and Baby Said, the sisters Veronica and Jess Pal. Brooke Star, DiElle, Regional One, Cold July and Mackenzie make up the rest of the nine. Between the live sets, DJs keep things moving, so the music doesn't stop when the bands step off.
It's a family-friendly one, and the outdoor setting in the square means it's as much about hanging around as it is about the stage. You can drift in and out across the afternoon, catch the acts you know and discover a few you don't, and still have time for a drink and a chat in between.
The festival is the climax of a special series of Centenary concerts in Guildhall Square, supported by Portsmouth City Council to mark 100 years of Portsmouth's city status. It follows two other shows on 17 and 18 July: 'The Best of Williams & Zimmer' and 'Smash Hits - The 80s', both performed by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Pompey Summer Sounds runs from 12:00 to 20:00, and tickets are £12.
