The 41st annual Paulsgrove Carnival featuring a procession, live performances, a fun fair, and community stalls.
The Paulsgrove Carnival returns to Hempsted Green on Saturday 27 June, marking its 41st year. This one is a bit of a milestone: it's being run as part of the 'Portsmouth100' celebrations, so the organisers are calling it an 'extra special' edition. It's a free event put on by and for the local residents, and the whole thing is built around bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds for a day out in the community.

The day kicks off with the carnival procession, which brings together local groups, schools, churches and scouts. The parade sets off from Victory Primary School and follows a route of about two miles, winding its way through the neighbourhood before finishing up at Hempsted Green. If you're not in the parade, that's where you'll want to be waiting.
From 10:00, Hempsted Green turns into the heart of the day. There will be table top sales and community information stalls to browse, and a stage where local groups and individuals perform live throughout the day. On the other side of the Green, you'll find a small fun fair and food concessions for when you need a break from the music. It's a proper community fair, with the procession, the stage, the stalls and the rides all running in the same space.
It's a free event, so there's nothing to pay to get in. The carnival starts at Victory Primary School and ends at Hempsted Green, with the main activity on the Green running from 10:00 on Saturday 27 June.
