A night of professional stand-up comedy with four top comedians at The Basement, City Screen Picturehouse, with bar service and two drink intervals.
LOL Comedy Club comes to The Basement, City Screen Picturehouse on Saturday 4 July. It's a full night of stand-up with four professional comedians on the bill: three main acts and an MC to hold the whole thing together. The club draws from the usual TV circuit, with comics who've appeared on Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Have I Got News for You, Britain's Got Talent, and Live at the Comedy Store, alongside international talent. It's the kind of room that's had Jason Manford, John Bishop, Chris Ramsey, and Sarah Millican on its bills before they became household names.

The evening is built around a full bar service, with two intervals for drinks and a bit of a chat between the sets, so it's as much about the social side as the comedy. There's no strict dress code, though the suggestion is to dress up a bit. One thing to keep in mind: they have a strict policy against heckling or talking during the acts, so it's a night for listening rather than joining in. There's no food served in the club, but there are plenty of places to eat nearby if you want a meal before or after.
Doors open at 19:30 and the show starts at 20:00, and they strongly recommend getting in before 19:45 so you're settled before the first act takes the stage. The whole thing runs for about two and a half hours, finishing between 22:30 and 22:45. Tickets are on Ticketmaster; they're non-refundable, but you can transfer yours to someone else if you can't make it.
