An evening of true crime stories and murder investigation insights with former undercover detective Peter Bleksley.
Peter Bleksley brings The Makings of a Murderer - The Undercover Detective to York Barbican on Tuesday 17 November, a night of true crime stories and insights into murder investigation. Bleksley was a founding member of Scotland Yard's undercover unit, and he spent more than a decade working deep inside criminal circles, moving from drug dealers up to hired killers. He's also a familiar face from the Channel 4 series Hunted, so if you've seen him on screen, this is a chance to hear the stories that didn't make it to the edit.

On the night, he'll be talking through the untold side of high-stakes undercover work, from infiltrating gangs to the moment he became the target of a murder plot himself — a turn that eventually landed him in witness protection. It's the kind of stuff you usually only hear about in the news or in a book, told by the man who actually lived it. If you're into true crime and the way murder investigations work from the inside, it's right up your street.
The evening starts at 19:30 at the Barbican (YO10 4NT). It's a ticketed event, and the official site notes that a booking fee applies, so keep that in mind when you're checking prices. There are also hospitality options available if you want to make a proper night of it. The venue suggests it's best suited for ages 15 and over, so it's one for the adults rather than a family outing.
