LOL Comedy Club

LOL Comedy Club returns to the Lord Mayors Banqueting Room at Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday 10 October, with the show starting at 20:00. It's a night of stand-up in the heart of the city, and if you've never been, the format is straightforward: four professional comedians on one bill, with one of them acting as the host and MC for the evening.

One of the things that makes the club work is that the line-up changes every month, so you're not seeing the same faces on repeat. The comedians they pull in aren't just circuit names; they've appeared on Mock The Week (BBC2), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1). The club also has a habit of booking acts before they hit the big time — Jason Manford, John Bishop, and Sarah Millican all played here early on.

It's an over-16s night, and the venue has a full bar running throughout, with two interval breaks to stretch your legs and grab a drink. If you're fancying a full evening out, there are hospitality packages and dinner options you can add on, like 'Comedy & Curry', and you can pre-buy your drinks in advance. A couple of house rules to keep in mind: no cameras or tablets during the show, and no outside food or drink, unless it's for medical reasons.
