Ainsworth is a local artist and a member of the collective Whenwewerecows. The morning follows a set format: the first half is all about the stories, with fascinating facts and anecdotes about the city's iconic and hidden landmarks. The second half is the creative part, where you can work through different artistic disciplines and express yourself on paper. You don't need to be an artist to join in—the whole thing is open to anyone over 16, and no previous experience is required. All you need is a bit of curiosity and a willingness to share stories.
The art club is more than just a one-off session; it's a build-up to the exhibition Your museum. Your stories. Your city., which opens in October 2026. The project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the sessions are designed to gather people's perspectives on the city before that show arrives.
It's a morning thing, running from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, and it's free to attend. You don't need to bring your own kit either—all the materials you'll need for the session are provided by the organisers.
