Outdoor screening of Steven Spielberg's classic film 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial' as part of the Sunset Outdoor Cinema 2026 series, presented by the Portsmouth Film Society.
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is playing outdoors at Portsmouth Cricket Club on Friday 26 June, from 21:00 to 23:00. It's part of the Sunset Outdoor Cinema 2026 season, put on by the Portsmouth Film Society in collaboration with Southsea Cinema and Arts Centre. Steven Spielberg's 1982 classic is the feature of the night, and it's rated U, so it's one you can bring the whole family along to.

If you're planning your summer, it's worth knowing that E.T. is just one of several screenings the society has lined up across the city. The season kicked off with Wicked For Good on 19 June, and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again follows on 3 July, with Willy Wonka on 10 July. There's also a free screening of Oliver Twist on 17 July, marking the 100th anniversary of Portsmouth. The Warriors was scheduled for 31 July but has since been cancelled due to low ticket sales, so that's the one to cross off your list.
The Cricket Club is on Eastern Parade in Southsea (PO4 9RF), and the screening runs from 21:00 to 23:00, so you'll be watching it as the light fades. Tickets are £8 to £10, and since it's a U certificate, it works as much for a family night out as it does for anyone who just wants to see a favourite again on a big screen under the stars.
