Community carol concert with local school choirs, brass band and carol singing at York Barbican.
York's Annual Community Carol Concert returns to the York Barbican on Sunday 13 December, its 68th year running. It's a traditional way to start the Christmas season, bringing together local school choirs, a brass band, and a good bit of carol singing from the audience.

The 2026 line-up puts the York RI Golden Rail Band at the centre, with the Huntington School Big Sing Choir and the Copmanthorpe Primary School Choir joining in. Soloist Alexandra Mather is on the bill, and Steve Cassidy, a regular at the concert, performs alongside the ensemble. Mike Pratt takes the musical direction, while the Rev Andrew Foster and Adam Tomlinson host the afternoon.
It's a family affair, so it works as well for a trip with the kids as it does for anyone who just enjoys choral music and carols. If you're bringing younger ones, keep in mind that anyone under 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
The concert starts at 14:00 at the York Barbican (YO10 4NT). It's a ticketed event, so you'll need to book in advance, and a booking fee applies. There are also exclusive hospitality options available if you're looking for something a bit more than a standard seat.
