Soul concert by Caitlin with special guest Brooke Star at The Lens Studio, Portsmouth Guildhall.
Caitlin plays The Lens Studio at Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday 8 August, with Brooke Star opening. It's a soul night, and the bill brings together a songwriter who's built a name across the UK and a local singer-songwriter from right here in Portsmouth.

Caitlin's sound sits at the crossroads of jazz, contemporary soul, rock and pop, and she's often talked about as one of the leading voices in the British soul revival. Her writing is described as heart-on-sleeve, and she's put out several EPs, with her debut Sleeping With The Devil being the one to know — the title track has passed a million streams on Spotify. If you've come across her work before, this is a chance to hear it live.
Opening the night is Brooke Star, a Portsmouth singer-songwriter who comes from a musical theatre background. She's moved into pop, writing songs drawn from her own experiences with anxiety and the search for identity. She puts it quite plainly: "I think music has helped me escape from some realities that have been too difficult to handle, and along the way of me thinking I needed to fit in, it has made me realise, that I would rather not be something that fits but actually something that stands out."
Tickets are £19.10, which includes a 13% booking fee, and all Portsmouth Guildhall events carry a catering levy. The night starts at 19:30. It's open to all ages, though under-14s need to be accompanied by an adult over 18. A few house rules to keep in mind: no cameras or tablets are allowed, so no flash photography, and no outside food or drink unless it's for medical reasons. Discounted parking tickets are available online or at the box office.
