The Spooky Men's Chorale perform their unique blend of powerful male sounds and exquisite tenderness in Portsmouth.
The Spooky Men’s Chorale play Portsmouth Guildhall on Sunday 28 June, bringing their particular brand of male choral singing to the city. They're an Australian group, formed in New South Wales back in 2001, and they've put out seven albums and played over 900 gigs since then.

They describe themselves as 'a magnificent many-headed beast that has turned the world of male singing upside down'. The music avoids the well-trodden paths, instead exploring what they call 'new territories of powerful male sounds, exquisite tenderness and charming stupidity'. It's a bit of a double-edged thing, too: they say they're out to celebrate masculinity and poke fun at it in the same breath.
It's an all-ages show, though anyone under 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult over 18. A few house rules to keep in mind before you head down: no cameras or tablets are allowed inside, and you can't bring in your own food or drink unless it's for medical reasons. There's discounted parking available, which you can sort online or at the box office.
Doors open at 19:00, and tickets are £32, a price that includes a 17% booking fee. The venue is Portsmouth Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth.
