A free drop-in creative workshop where participants can make a doll representing someone who has made Portsmouth special to them, as part of the Portsmouth100 initiative.
Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery is hosting a doll-making workshop on Saturday 11 July, as part of the Portsmouth 100 project. The idea is simple: you make a doll of someone who's made Portsmouth special to you. It's a free drop-in session, so you can just turn up when it suits you between 10:00 and 12:30.

Once you've finished your doll, it doesn't just go home with you. The museum will be exhibiting the dolls as part of the Portsmouth 100 exhibition, so your person will end up on display alongside everyone else's. It's a nice way to see who else people across the city are thinking of.
If you're worried about the making part, don't be. They provide all the templates, equipment, and help you'll need on the day, and it's open to all ages and abilities, so it's as much for kids as it is for adults. The only thing they suggest bringing is a photograph of the person you've chosen, just to have as a reference while you work.
It's being held in the museum's back garden, under a stretch tent, so you'll be outside rather than tucked away in a gallery. The whole thing is free, and it's come together thanks to National Lottery players with support from the Heritage Fund. The workshop runs from 10:00 to 12:30 on Saturday 11 July at Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery.
